To duplicate rows in Excel, follow these steps:
Select the row or rows you want to duplicate by clicking the row number(s) on the left side of the worksheet.
Right-click the selected row(s) and choose Copy, or press Ctrl + C (Windows) or Command + C (Mac).
Right-click the row number where you want to insert the duplicate and select Insert Copied Cells.
The duplicated row(s) will appear above the selected row.
How to Duplicate Rows Multiple Times
To repeat a row multiple times:
Select the row you want to duplicate.
Copy the row using Ctrl + C (Windows) or Command + C (Mac).
Select the same number of rows as the number of times you want to duplicate it. For example, select 5 rows to duplicate the row 5 times.
Right-click and choose Insert Copied Cells.
Excel will duplicate the row across the selected rows.
Using Fill Handle to Duplicate Rows
Select the row or cells you want to duplicate.
Hover over the bottom-right corner of the selection until the cursor changes to a small black cross.
Drag the fill handle down across the rows you want to fill.
The row content will repeat for the number of rows you drag.
Example
Suppose Row 2 contains data:
| Name | Age | City |
|---|---|---|
| John | 28 | Miami |
To duplicate this row 3 times:
Copy Row 2.
Select 3 rows below it.
Right-click → Insert Copied Cells.
Resulting rows will be:
| Name | Age | City |
|---|---|---|
| John | 28 | Miami |
| John | 28 | Miami |
| John | 28 | Miami |
This method preserves all formatting, formulas, and data.
