To redo in Excel, you reverse the last undo action. Redo restores the most recent change that was undone.
Methods to Redo
-
Using Keyboard Shortcut
-
On Windows: Press Ctrl + Y.
-
On Mac: Press Command + Y.
This immediately re-applies the last action that was undone.
-
-
Using the Ribbon
-
Go to the Quick Access Toolbar at the top-left corner of Excel.
-
Click the Redo button, which looks like a curved arrow pointing to the right.
-
The last undone action will be restored.
-
-
Right-Click Method
-
Right-click on a cell where you want to apply the action again.
-
Choose Redo from the context menu if available.
-
Notes on Redo
-
Redo works only immediately after an undo action. If you perform another action after undoing, you cannot redo the previous change.
-
Multiple actions can be redone sequentially using repeated presses of Ctrl + Y (Windows) or Command + Y (Mac).
-
Redo is particularly useful for formatting, deleting, or moving cells when changes are accidentally reversed.
Example
-
You delete a row in Excel.
-
You press Ctrl + Z to undo the deletion.
-
Press Ctrl + Y to redo the deletion and restore the action.
This method ensures efficiency when working with large datasets or repeated changes.
