To freeze the header row in Excel, follow these steps:
-
Open your Excel workbook and select the worksheet where you want to freeze the header row.
-
Click on the View tab in the Ribbon at the top of the window.
-
Locate the Freeze Panes option in the Window group.
-
Click Freeze Panes, then select Freeze Top Row from the dropdown menu.
-
The top row will now remain visible when you scroll down the worksheet.
Notes:
-
Only the very first row will be frozen using Freeze Top Row.
-
To freeze a different row, select the row below it, click Freeze Panes, and then choose Freeze Panes from the dropdown. This will freeze all rows above the selected row.
-
On Mac, the Freeze Panes option is under the Window menu instead of the View tab, but the functionality is identical.
Verification:
Scroll down your worksheet. The top row should remain visible while the rest of the rows move.
This method ensures that headers stay visible for better data management and navigation.
